There are still more than two billion people in the world who have no access to electricity and are thus in effect cut off from most of the achievements of modern civilization. After all, many things are dependent on an electricity supply, including clean drinking water, education, health and economic development.
With our products for off-grid systems, we provide a clean and extremely cost-effective solution to this problem. Particularly, when the costs not only for initial acquisition, but also for maintenance and operation are included in the equation. Off-grid systems are a viable option for all regions in which connection to a national power distribution grid is too costly or not technically feasible.

The flexible System manager
The Sunny Islands offer you first class possibilities in the installation of self-sufficient energy systems. In conjunction with a battery pack the devices form a self-sufficient AC voltage grid, which meets with the highest of quality standards. In the Sunny Island System, electricity generators and consumers are integrated in equal measure. PV and wind energy systems, diesel devices, water or CHP (Combined Heat and Power) can be coupled on the AC side just as conventional 230 Volt consumers. Thus the Sunny Islands offer you two decisive advantages: at system planning and layout you can enjoy the highest degree of flexibility, during installation the complex DC cabling is not required.

The "Blackout-Blocker"
Did you know that the PV-plant disconnects from the grid in case of a blackout? In this case it does not produce any more electricity - neither for grid feeding nor for the supply of consumers in the house.
SMA Technologie AG closes this gap with the Sunny Backup-System: As an add-on for the PV-system it automatically switches the system to island power supply in the case of a grid failure. You can equip every SMA inverter-operated system as well as new systems with a Sunny Backup-System. A Further advantage: Due to the integration of the PV system, a small and therefore low-cost battery can be fitted, as it is usually only needed to bridge the night hours. We offer you the Sunny Backup-System as pre-configured sets for all power ranges from 1 up to 100 kW. Easy to install and easy to extend later.
